"If you want to go quickly, go alone; if you want to go far, go together." - African proverb
Having spent most of her childhood on a grape farm in Earlimart, going to college in the Bay Area was both a shock and a dream for Karin. Four years later, armed with a double-major in Social Welfare and Scandinavian Studies, she set off to change - and travel - the world. After some years (11 to be exact) studying and teaching (6 of which were overseas), she returned to Tulare County with a child and a desire to make her difference locally through education. Soon a mother of two, travels waned but dreams of building better schools got bigger.
Dr. Aure spent a number of years teaching in a credential and Masters program and then ten years at the central office for a local district leading in innovative practices. During this time, she had the honor of serving on the founding board for Sycamore Valley Academy. Desiring to work more directly with students, Karin returned to the school-setting and served as a site administrator for 11 years, including 6 years at a local charter school. Following another stint at a large district office, Karin became the third Superintendent of The Academies in 2025. She is thrilled to reconnect with The Academies - its mission, its commitment, and its community.
